As the summer solstice arrives and all things flourish, Xi’an Peihua University held its 2025 Commencement and Bachelor’s Degree Conferral Ceremony on the morning of June 21 at the gymnasium of the Chang’an Campus. Over 2,000 attendees—including university leadership, members of the Academic Degree Committee, faculty representatives, counselors, parents of graduates, alumni, and representatives of the Class of 2025—gathered to witness this milestone moment. The ceremony was co-hosted by Dong Ying, Secretary of the University Youth League Committee, and Dou Baokuo, a 2025 graduate from the School of Media and Design.
The ceremony opened with a multimedia performance titled A Graduation Season in Seven-Character Verse: Reflections on Passing the Terracotta Warriors. The graceful melodies, heartfelt recitations, and dynamic stage visuals blended seamlessly, creating a powerful connection between the rich century-long heritage of Peihua and the vibrant spirit of today’s youth.
With resolute and powerful strides, the flag bearers of the National Flag Guard solemnly escorted the national flag and the university flag into the venue. As the flags entered, all faculty, staff, and students stood in respectful silence, their eyes fixed on the banners, hearts filled with patriotism and deep affection for their alma mater.
At the beginning of the ceremony, President Li Yingfang read the Decision of Xi’an Peihua University on the Graduation (Completion) of the 2025 Cohort of Full-Time Undergraduate and Associate Degree Students. Hu Junsheng, Executive Vice President and Chair of the University’s Academic Degree Evaluation Committee, then announced theDecision of Xi’an Peihua University on Conferring Bachelor’s Degrees to the 2025 Cohort of Full-Time Undergraduate Students.
University leaders jointly presented graduation certificates and degree diplomas to representatives of the graduating class and performed the symbolic tassel-turning ceremony. During the proceedings, graduate representatives also offered thoughtfully chosen gifts as tokens of gratitude and appreciation.
Yao Wenjing, Vice Chair of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee, Deputy Party Secretary, and Vice President of Xi’an Peihua University, read the Announcement on Commending Outstanding Graduates of the Class of 2025.
The university gave special recognition to representatives of outstanding graduates, graduates admitted to postgraduate programs, volunteers serving in the Western Region Program, and exemplary graduates who are retired military service members. The Chairman of the Board, together with university leaders, presented awards to 21 outstanding graduate representatives and joined them for a group photo.
Following the awards segment, the ceremony moved into a heartfelt and emotional moment. Graduate representatives delivered a touching performance of Memories of Youth, a familiar melody that stirred countless memories of campus life. This was followed by the screening of a graduation tribute video titled Youth: To Be Continued, which showcased the growth and transformation of students from four academic programs during their years at Peihua. Frame by frame, the video captured unforgettable moments, bringing tears to the eyes of faculty, students, and parents alike.
Li Jianle, a graduate of the School of Accounting and Finance and a volunteer for the Western Region Program, delivered a speech on behalf of the graduating class. She reflected on her four years at Peihua with gratitude for the university’s guidance and emphasized the importance of putting knowledge into action. Having been selected to serve in the 12th Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, she will soon begin grassroots work in western China.She called on all graduates to carry forward the university motto—“Upholding the Reputation, Prioritizing Quality, Striving for Self-improvement, and Pioneering Forward”—and, like “dandelions”, take root where the country needs them most, allowing their youth to shine through service and dedication.
Luan Boqiang, Associate Dean of the School of Humanities and International Education, delivered a speech on behalf of the faculty. Through “Three Peihua Memories”, he guided the graduating class in revisiting their university journey, emphasizing that Peihua not only imparts knowledge, but also instills the lifelong values of “broad learning, critical inquiry, and steadfast practice”. He noted that the university has shaped its students with the spirit of “self-cultivation and benefiting others”—a defining hallmark of Peihua’s character. He encouraged graduates to become “seeds that grow deep roots”, “bridges that connect past and present”, and “lights that illuminate others”. He called upon the Class of 2025 to bravely embrace the mission of the era—“to serve a strong nation and strive for shared success”.
As the head of the Peihua family, Chairman Jiang Bo delivered a heartfelt and visionary speech—his final lesson to the graduating class. On behalf of the university, he congratulated all members of the Class of 2025 on successfully completing their studies, expressed his deep respect for the faculty and staff, and extended his sincere thanks to the families who supported the graduates along the way. Drawing on the stories of Peihua alumni from the 1950s who grew through their experiences at the grassroots level,he encouraged graduates to go where the country needs them most and to build their futures from the ground up. He offered four hopes for the graduating class. First, to prioritize moral character and learn to cherish.He encouraged them to be grateful to their parents for raising them, to care for their elders, and to be warm-hearted and responsible individuals.Second, to pursue lifelong learning and embrace innovation.He urged them not to be content with their current knowledge, but to keep up with national and global developments, continuously enhance their professional competence, and bravely break through to become versatile talents.Third, to value health and maintain vitality. As health is the foundation of happiness, he reminded them to treasure their physical and mental well-being in this fast-paced era and to stay positive and optimistic.Fourth, to stay down-to-earth and start from scratch. He advised them to set aside past achievements, face the future with a mindset of returning to zero and with firm conviction, and to grow through perseverance.At the end of his speech,he invited the graduates to return to their alma mater in 2028 to celebrate the university’s centennial together.
At the conclusion of the speech, graduate representatives, dressed in traditional Hanfu, performed the “Shu Xiu” ceremony for the Chairman—a time-honored ritual of offering gifts to one’s teacher. The gesture symbolized their deep respect for their mentor and heartfelt blessings for their alma mater.
At the close of the ceremony, a carefully arranged medley of songs reignited the energy in the venue, capturing the power of youth, the bittersweet emotion of parting, and the boundless hope for the future.
Outside the venue, the university set up a series of themed interactive graduation floats with names like “Born to Shine”, “Peachy Wishes”, “Sweet Journey Ahead”, “Lychees from Chang’an”, and “Dumpling Dreams”. These thoughtful installations offered warmth and blessings to the graduates, who eagerly gathered to take photos and capture memories of their special day.
With that, the 2025 Commencement and Bachelor’s Degree Conferral Ceremony of Xi’an Peihua University came to a successful close. The event marked a meaningful conclusion to the academic journey of the Class of 2025, while also ushering in a new chapter—one in which these graduates, as the “born protagonists” of their own stories, will venture across the country and step boldly into the tides of national progress. Carrying with them the heartfelt blessings and hopes of their alma mater, Peihua graduates are poised to stay true to their aspirations and forge ahead with determination. In the great endeavor of realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation, they will write brilliant, youth-driven chapters worthy of the era and of their time.
