The 8th English Corner of the second semester of the 2024–2025 academic year was successfully held in Room 9C305 of Hengyou Building from 19:00 to 20:00 on Wednesday, April 15, 2025.

At the beginning of the event, Teacher Cheng Wen kicked off the English Corner with a warm opening address. She briefly introduced the theme of this session—movies—and encouraged students to actively participate in discussions, sharing their insights and feelings. Following this, Teacher Shen Chen led students into the magical world of cinema through classic film clips.

During the event, the two teachers organized students into diverse group formations, allowing them to delve into English-related topics while also making friends with peers from different schools, thereby fostering mutual understanding.

In their exchanges, students enthusiastically shared a variety of popular movies, discussing everything from plot summaries and directorial styles to actor performances in a detailed and engaging manner. Some students also had interesting conversations about renowned actors in films, as well as topics such as dubbing and subtitles.

Undoubtedly, the most exciting part for the students was sharing their favorite movies. Some recommended classic films, others shared the latest blockbuster releases, and a few recounted their personal and unique connections with certain movies. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with laughter and applause.

The English Corner is not only a platform for learning English but also a space to make friends and enhance communication. In a relaxed and enjoyable environment, students freely discussed movies in English, which not only improved their oral expression skills but also strengthened mutual understanding and friendship.

Refreshments were also provided during the event, allowing students to enjoy light snacks while engaging in conversations about movies and savoring this rare and pleasant time together.

After the event concluded, students expressed that they had gained a lot from the experience. They not only had the opportunity to discuss movies in English and practice their spoken language skills but, more importantly, they connected with like-minded friends.
