To celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of Xi’an Peihua University and promote its high-quality development, the “2023 Forum on High-Quality Development of Private Higher Education”, sponsored by the Shaanxi Higher Education Association and Shaanxi Private Education Association, and organized by Xi’an Peihua University, was held in the Mingde Building of Xi’an Peihua University on October 22nd. Dr. Jiang Bo, Chairman of Xi’an Peihua University, on behalf of the university, warmly welcomed and sincerely thanked the experts, scholars, and guests who attended this forum. He stated that from the founding of Xi’an No. 1 Female Civilian Vocational School in 1928 to present Xi’an Peihua University, Peihua relocated seven times and changed its name nine times during these 95 years. Despite all these ups and downs, its vitality has never been diminished . Peihua has always adhered to the educational philosophy of “People-Oriented, Morality First” and the university motto of “Upholding the Reputation, Prioritizing the Quality, Striving for Self-improvement, and Pioneering for Advancement”. It has cultivated over 100,000 high-quality application-oriented talents for society and made contributions to the national economic and social construction. Today’s Peihua is standing at a new starting point of high-quality development. The university will deeply grasp the essential characteristics and objective laws of the Party’s construction of an educational powerhouse, continuously strengthen comprehensive capacity construction, continuously improve the quality of talent cultivation, and be committed to running a high-level private university that satisfies the people. Professor Xi Jiami, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice president of Northwest University, congratulated Peihua on the 95th anniversary of its founding on behalf of the Shaanxi Higher Education Association and Northwest University. He stated that Shaanxi is one of the birthplaces of Chinese culture, with a group of strong, diverse, and dynamic higher education institutions, occupying an important position in the national higher education system. Xi’an Peihua University is the first true private university in Shaanxi Province and the first private university in the western region to have the right to confer bachelor’s degrees. Shen Xuefeng, member of the Education Work Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee and deputy director of the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education, warmly congratulated Peihua on the 95th anniversary of its founding on behalf of the Education Work Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee and the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education. He pointed out that Xi’an Peihua University is one of the typical representatives of private higher education in Shaanxi. Over the years, it has strengthened its comprehensive capacity construction and is determined to forge ahead. It has many experiences in the the university’s party construction, the university’s educational mechanism reform, education and teaching reform, educational conditions improvement, and representative majors construction. Against the backdrop of China’s private higher education entering an era with new opportunity for high-quality development, three hopes were put forward for Shaanxi private higher education institutions: firstly, to fully implement the Party’s education policy, firmly grasp the overall goal of cultivating socialist builders and successors, adhere to the public welfare of education, and provide education that satisfies the people. The second is to continuously improve the quality of education and teaching. We need to guarantee the central position of teaching among all aspects of the work, increase investment on teaching, strengthen basic teaching construction, and work on practical strategies and effectiveness in major construction, teaching achievement cultivation, student internship and training, and school-enterprise cooperative education. We must adhere to the principle of building a university with quality and strengthen its development with characteristics, and stand out to take the lead in fierce inter-university competition. The third is to pay attention to the theoretical and practical research of private higher education.
