As a visionary leader in higher education, he has served as the president of multiple universities in the United States and has driven reforms in higher education institutions across several continents. As a pioneer in globalization, he co-founded the AGAUC and the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education (NADOHE) in the United States, playing a significant role in advancing internationalization and equity policies. His research on higher education finance, diversity, and administration has been widely published, and he holds advisory roles in global academic governance.

In October 2025, he was appointed as a Strategic Advisor to the Internationalization Strategy Advisory Committee of Xi’an Peihua University.
