From May 26th to 28th, the 5th China National University Archery Championships (Artistic Archery) were held at the Meihekou City Sports Center in Meihekou City,hosted by Chinese University Sports Association,executed by Archery (Artistic Archery) Sub-Association of the Chinese University Sports Association,and organizedbyMeihekou City Cultural, Broadcasting, Television, and Tourism Bureau. The event saw participationofover 460 athletes, team leaders, and coaches representing 52 universities from across China, including Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Zhejiang University. The competition spanned three days and featured 12 different events, including traditional bow individual and team competitions, as well as recurve bow individual and team events. Xi’an Peihua University sent a delegation consisting of six athletes to compete in the Recurve Bow 30-meter Individual, Mixed Team, and Team events within Group C. Their exceptional performance culminated in three silver and two bronze medals. The Xi’an Peihua University delegation was led by Professor Wang Zhiqiang, Dean of the College of Sports, with teachers Sun Mohan and Chai Zhiheng serving as coaches.



The delegation excelled on the first day of competition, with one male athlete and three female athletes advancing to the national top eight. Ultimately, they achieved an outstanding results, earning three silver and two bronze medals. The specific list of award winners is as follows:

Men’s Group C Recurve Bow Team Qualifying Round - Third Place; Elimination Round - Runner-up: Han Bing, Ma Cheng, Lu Ziyi
In the overall Recurve Bow Team Rankings, they secured the seventh position among universities nationwide.



After the competition, the team members could hardly contain their excitement. He Jiaxin, who secured the runner-up position in the Women’s Group C Recurve Bow Individual Elimination Round, expressed, “To achieve one’s dreams, one must possess unwavering confidence and put in a hundred times the effort. Embrace failure and let it drive you forward.Along with your opponents, you can break through your own limits and stand atop the highest podium of life.”
It has been reported that Xi’an Peihua University’s Archery Team was established in May 2023. After undergoing two rigorous selection rounds, the team’s final roster of six members was chosen from a pool of over seventy students. Their training program was developed in consultation with provincial archery team coaches, taking into consideration the training schemes of professional teams. Additionally, they regularly invited nationally renowned athletes to the university for personal guidance. During the intense 22-day preparation period leading up to the competition, the team members diligently adhered to their training regimen, continuously adjusted their mindset, and ultimately achieved significant self-improvement on the competition stage.

As the guiding instructor leading the team for the first time in a nationally prestigious archery competition, she has successfully tapped into the team members’ potential, showcasing exceptional cohesion and leadership.


The successful hosting of this competition has provided a platform for college students nationwide who have a passion for archery to exchange and showcase their skills. It has also enhanced the understanding of youth regarding the art of archery and plays a significant role in promoting traditional sports culture and fostering a sense of community among the Chinese people. We hope that in the future, more teachers and students will engage in archery. This not only enriches their extracurricular lives but also promotes physical fitness and concentration. It will contribute to injecting fresh energy into the university’s representative teams and bring honor to our institution!
