On November 27, the national finals of the“11thNational College Student Digital Media Science and Technology Works and Creativity Competition”sponsored by the China Artificial Intelligence Society came to an end in Changzhou, Jiangsu. The participantstutored by the Design Innovation Center of Xi’an Peihua University won 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, and 4 third prizes at the national level; 3 firstprizes, 4 second prizes, and 15 third prizes in the Northwest Division.
The“National College Student Digital Media Technology Works and Creativity Competition”was selected in the“National College Student Competition Analysis Report”in2023.It is a second-class high-level subject competition recognized by the school’s Academic Affairs Management Center. This competition received a total of more than 70,000 works from across the country. The winning works must be selected online in the preliminary round and defended on-site at the national competition. The finals adopteda review mechanism jointly decided by university scholars and industry experts.
Design Innovation Centerof Xi’an Peihua Universityhas been committed to adopting a more practice-oriented and project-oriented teaching model to cultivate students’sense of teamwork, innovative spirit and practical application capabilities. Wang Zijian, director of the Design Innovation Center, who won the“Excellent Instructor”in this competition, saidthat2023 is called the first year of generative artificial intelligence (AIGC), and the logic of design creation has achieved breakthrough changes. Our students have followed closelythepace of thedevelopment of the times, applyingnew technologies andinnovative ideasin design practice.Theyachieved excellent resultsthe very first time theyparticipated in the high-level subject competition sponsored by the China Artificial IntelligenceSociety, whichnot only verified our teaching methods, but also enhancedthestudents’self-confidence. It gave them more motivationto pursue higher academic and career goals in the future.
It is reported that after the defenseinthe national finals, the team of teachers andstudents of the Design Innovation Center alsovisitedJiangnan University, Suzhou Arts and Crafts Vocational and Technical College and othercolleges anduniversities to learnfromtheirteaching and practical experience of design majors,in orderto broaden their horizons, and cultivateamore comprehensive and open design concept.
