As the annual Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, faculty and students across the university are celebrating in their own unique ways, spreading care and fostering a warm festive atmosphere. The university specially prepared Peihua-branded mooncakes for the freshmen, and the school leadership joined students in their dormitories to celebrate this festival. Various secondary schools also hosted a variety of exciting activities, creating a homely environment and promoting traditional Chinese culture.
On September 13, all university leaders visited the student dormitories, where they joined students in making mooncakes and distributed the Peihua-branded mooncakes. The students, full of enthusiasm and excitement, warmly greeted them with heartfelt wishes of “Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!” In the dormitories, the leaders engaged in friendly conversations with the students, inquiring about their studies and daily lives, listening to their joys and concerns, and extending holiday greetings. This hands-on interaction reflects the university’s “student-centered” educational philosophy in everyday practice.

As the festival approaches, the university’s labor union ordered mooncake gift boxes for all faculty and staff, delivering them personally along with holiday greetings and well wishes. The union also teamed up with the university’s branch of SPD Bank to host a “Mid-Autumn Warmth, Teacher Appreciation” DIY snow skin mooncake event, allowing faculty and staff to experience the charm of traditional culture through hands-on participation.

The Light Aroma of Mooncakes, the Deep Warmth of Mid-Autumn. To ensure that students from the School of Humanities feel the warmth of home during the festival, the school distributed Peihua’s “specially-made mooncakes” to all students before the Mid-Autumn break. At Dormitory 1 and Dormitory 8, Vice President Liu Yuelian, Executive Dean Liang Rui, and Party Secretary and Vice Dean Nan Bing visited the student dormitories, engaging in warm conversations with the students and extending Mid-Autumn Festival greetings to everyone.

In order to gain deeper insights into students’ academic and daily lives and to foster better communication between the university and students, Dean Wang Hongmao of the School of Law, along with Party Branch Secretary and Deputy Dean Han Bin, and Vice Dean Zhao Jie, held a Mid-Autumn Festival student representative symposium titled “Full Moon, Dorm Harmony” at the Mingde Community. During the symposium, faculty and students shared their life experiences and discussed their future, allowing students to feel the university’s care and the festive atmosphere, which enhanced their sense of belonging and happiness. After the event, the leaders of the School of Law distributed mooncakes to the students, bringing the university’s well wishes to each one. The venue was filled with the strong festive atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival, radiating a sense of happiness.

The Moon Shines Brighter in Our Hometown, and the Affection Runs Deeper at Peihua. Executive Vice President Hu Junsheng, Executive Dean Cheng Li of the School of Intelligent Science and Engineering, Party Secretary Wang Lin, along with department heads, academic advisors, and counselors, visited the Gewu Student Community to personally hand out mooncakes to each student, conveying their holiday wishes. The Gewu Student Community also hosted a unique Mid-Autumn Festival bead embroidery workshop, allowing freshmen to experience the warmth and joy of the traditional holiday while showcasing the perfect blend of technology and culture in an innovative way. On the day of the event, the community was festively decorated, brimming with a strong holiday atmosphere. Students from various majors gathered to celebrate this traditional festival, feeling the warmth of home and the continuity of cultural heritage.

On this day symbolizing reunion, Vice President and Deputy Party Secretary Yao Wenjing, Dean of the School of Medicine Hu Guodong, Party Secretary and Deputy Dean Shi Lijun, Deputy Party Secretary He Li, along with counselors from the School of Medicine, visited the student dormitories to deliver specially-made Mid-Autumn mooncakes from the university. They warmly engaged with the freshmen, inquiring about their adjustment to the new environment and encouraging them to actively get involved in university life and boldly pursue their dreams. The leaders also expressed their care and greetings to older students, discussing their academic progress and daily needs, hoping they continue to set a positive example for the younger students. In the one-stop service community at Dormitories 7 and 15, students participated in handmade craft activities, using their creativity to produce beautiful works of art. Many students also took up pens to write down their heartfelt Mid-Autumn wishes and hopes for the future.
At the same time, Party Secretary and Deputy Dean Shi Lijun, Deputy Party Secretary He Li, and the counselors of the graduating class from the School of Medicine visited the Gaoxin Campus to check in on the interns, delivering specially-made mooncakes to them. They inquired about the students’ internships and daily lives, encouraging them to continually improve their professional skills during their internships. The school’s leaders and faculty also kept the students interning outside the province in their thoughts. With care and best wishes from the school, mooncakes were sent across vast distances to every student interning away from the campus, ensuring that even those far from home could feel the care and support of their alma mater.

The Moon Shines Brighter on Mid-Autumn, and People Feel Closer During Festivals. Party Secretary Liu Feng, together with Dean Zhao Xuanmin of the School of Accounting and Finance, led the school’s leadership team into the Zhicheng Community, visiting dormitories 6, 11, 12, and 19 to hold a warm discussion with students. During the session, Secretary Liu Feng listened attentively to the students’ thoughts and encouraged them to cherish their university years to study hard, and strive for progress, laying a solid foundation for their future. At the same time, faculty members visited dormitories 12, 11, and 19, conducting a series of care visits, delivering mooncakes, fruits, and other gifts, ensuring that students could feel the warmth of home even at school. This care visit not only allowed students to feel the university’s concern but also strengthened their sense of belonging and identification with the school, making this Mid-Autumn Festival a warm and joyful experience, even away from home.

Chairman Jiang Bo joined the students in the Duxing Community to make handmade mooncakes together. During the process, students not only learned the techniques of making snow skin mooncakes but also deeply felt the festive atmosphere and Chairman Jiang’s care. He personally handed the mooncakes to each student, offering his greetings in a warm and lively setting. Dormitories 4, 17, and 21 in the Duxing Community were adorned with Mid-Autumn-themed decorations, and the school leadership, along with counselors, visited the dorms to deliver mooncakes to the students.
To further promote the development of the faculty team at the School of Media and Design, recognize outstanding teachers, and strengthen team cohesion, the school held a grand Mid-Autumn Festival awards ceremony on September 14, 2024, in the Hengyou Building lecture hall, with the theme of “The Bright Moon Shines on Teachers, Upholding Virtue with Commitment.” The event highlighted teachers’ remarkable achievements in education, teaching, and various competitions over the past academic year. Additionally, to help teachers relax and celebrate this traditional festival amid their busy schedules, the school organized an exciting raffle. Executive Dean Xu Ying, along with other school leaders, personally wrote holiday greetings for each teacher.

Professor Xu Guofu, chairman of the Supervisory Board, along with the leadership team of the School of Physical Education and Sports, visited the student community, personally distributing carefully selected mooncakes to every student. This gesture allowed students to experience the deep cultural significance and beautiful symbolism carried by the mooncakes during this festival of reunion and happiness. The school also encouraged students to share the mooncakes with family and friends during the holiday, spreading joy and well wishes. To promote traditional Chinese culture and create a festive atmosphere, Women School hosted a unique “Full Moon and Grace, Beauty Shared at This Moment” handmade lantern-making event, which attracted enthusiastic participation from the students of the women’s classes.

Teacher Zhang Wenyue introduced the history, cultural significance, and traditional customs of Mid-Autumn Festival to the students, including the art of making lanterns. The students showcased their creativity and hands-on skills by using various materials and tools to carefully design and craft unique lanterns. Through this Mid-Autumn lantern-making activities, the students not only enhanced their practical and creative abilities but also, more importantly, gained a deeper understanding of the cultural essence of the festival, strengthening their sense of identification with and pride in traditional Chinese culture.
