On April 24th, Shaanxi Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Thought Research Association’s Leadership Transition Meetingand the second session of the“Vocational Education Lecture”were held at Xi’an Peihua University. More than 200 member representatives from over 30 universities and enterprises within the province attended the meeting. Xi’an Peihua University was elected as the presidentinstitution, andchairman Jiang Bo was elected as the president. Li Zhongmin,vicechairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Political Consultative Conference anddirector of the Shaanxi Provincial Chinese Vocational Education Society, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
Li Yingfang,president of Xi’an PeihuaUniversity, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of theuniversity. He mentioned that Peihua, as a private university with nearly a hundred years of history, adheres to the three characteristic genes of vocational education, red genes, and women’s education, and is committed to cultivating composite talents with outstanding professional abilities for society. At the same time, Peihua has a deep connection and a long cultural context with the ChineseVocational Education Society. Theuniversity’sname“Peihua”is derived from Mr. Huang Yanpei’s“Pei”and the Chinese (zhonghua)Vocational Education Society’s“Hua”, aiming to reflect and inherit Huang Yanpei’s vocational education ideas, highlight the leading role of vocational education, and achieve the educational vision of“cultivating talents and revitalizing China”.Hehopesto take this conference as an opportunity to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation withotheruniversities, industry enterprises, experts and scholars, learn from advanced vocational education concepts and experiences, work together to promote the high-quality development of vocational education in our province.

This meeting was divided into two stages.At the first stage, the“Leadership Transition Meeting”,waschaired by Wang Yanping,deputydirector and secretary general of Shaanxi Province ChineseVocational Education Society. The conference reviewed and approved the“Amendment to the Constitution of Shaanxi Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Thought Research Association (Draft)”, and elected 15 universities and enterprises including Xi’an PeihuaUniversity, Xi’anInternationalUniversity, and Yangling Vocational and Technical College as the new directors of Shaanxi HuangYanpei Vocational Education Thought Research Association. Jiang Bo, chairman of Xi’an Peihua University,waselected as the new chairman of Shaanxi Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Thought Research Association.Eightattendees were appointed asvice presidents, among whom were Ma Jun,professor and doctoral supervisor at Shaanxi Normal University;Luo Yun,vicedean of the School of Culture and Education at Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, and Huang Changli,assistant to the chairman and president of Xi’an International University. The conference appointed Luo Xinyuan,vicepresident and chairman of the Academic Committee of Xi’an Peihua University, as secretary general of the Research Association.

Jiang Bo, the newly appointed president of the Shaanxi Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Thought Research Association, stated that Peihua has a deep connection with Mr. Huang Yanpei and the Chinese Vocational Education Society initiated by him. The university was once the only branch of the Chinese Vocational Education Society in Shaanxi at that time, and Mr. Huang Yanpei’s vocational education thought has had an impact on Peihua’s education to this day, laying the foundation for the university’s development. As the new president of the Shaanxi Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Thought Research Association,he will do his utmost to fulfillhismission and fulfill the heavy trust, and promote the inheritance, innovation, and development of Huang Yanpei’s vocational education thought in Shaanxi to a new level.He hopes that under the strong leadership of Shaanxi Chinese Vocational Education Society, Shaanxi Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Thought Research Association can actively contact relevant departments and enterprises, work closely together, and strive to achieve more fruitful results, contributing to the development of vocational education in Shaanxi and even the whole country.
Speech by Jiang Bo, the newly appointed president
Li Zhongmin,vice chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Political Consultative Conference and director of the Provincial Chinese Vocational Education Society, delivered a speech, pointing out that as the founder of vocational education in China, Mr. Huang Yanpei’s educational philosophy of“combining hands and brains, integrating practice and learning”and the open pattern of“big vocational education”still shine with the light of truth to this day. Against the strategic background of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposing the“coordinated innovation of the three educations”, and in the nationwide trend of deeply studying and implementing the“Outline of the Plan for Building a Strong Education Country”, we must further explore the contemporary value of Huang Yanpei’s vocational education thought.
He emphasized that the new research association should further enhance its political stance, deeply understand the important position and role of vocational education in the overall development of the country, take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era astheguidance, thoroughly implement the important instructions and directives of general secretary Xi Jinping on vocational education, adhere to the leadership of the Party, and grasp the correct research direction. We must thoroughly implement the planning outline for building a strong education country and province, closely focus on the key and difficult issues in the development of vocational education in our province, conduct in-depth investigations and research, actively provide suggestions and recommendations, and provide scientific basis for the formulation and implementation of vocational education policies in our province.
We need to continuously strengthen our own construction, enhance our research capabilities and levels. Huang Yanpei’s vocational educationthoughtis an open and developing theoretical system that requires us to continuously conduct in-depth research and innovation in combination with the development of the times and practical needs. The research association should widely unite and gather experts, scholars, frontline teachers, and business professionals in the field of vocational education in our province, forming a research synergy. We need to strengthen communication and cooperation with relevant research institutions at home and abroad, learn from advanced research experience and methods, and broaden our research horizons. We should pay attention to the transformation and application of research results, and transform them into practical actions to promote the development of vocational education in our province.
We have to fully leverage the role of bridges and links, and strengthen connections and cooperation with all sectors of society. The development of vocational education cannot be separated from the joint efforts of the government, schools, enterprises, and all sectors of society. The research association should actively build a communication platform to promote information sharing and resource integration among the government, schools, and enterprises. We need to strengthen cooperation with the business community, gain a deeper understanding of the talent needs of enterprises, and promote the close integration of vocational education talent cultivation with the actual needs of enterprises. We should actively carry out vocational education publicity and promotion activities, enhance social awareness and recognition of vocational education, and create a good atmosphere of concern and support for the development of vocational education throughout society.

Wu Xuemin provided a detailed introduction to the life story of Huang Yanpei and shared the historical evolution and development path of the Chinese Vocational School (predecessor of Nanjing University of Technology) founded by Huang Yanpei. The establishment ofChineseVocational School demonstrates Huang Yanpei’s original intention of establishing vocational education, which is that vocational education is an important way to save the country, love the country, and solve the most difficult livelihood problems of the country and society. Wu Xuemin has put Huang Yanpei’s vocational educationthoughtinto innovative practice through the five key links of“positioning, majors, courses, faculty, and academia”at Nanjing Industrial Vocational and Technical University.
