In recent years, guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the Trade Union of Xi’an Peihua University has fully implemented the Party’s educational policies, remained focused on the university’s core priorities, and dedicated itself to serving the broader mission. With a strong emphasis on union functions and faculty rights, and upholding a “people-centered” philosophy, the university has advanced the implementation of the “Four Key Initiatives” to provide precise, attentive, and refined services and support. These efforts have offered solid backing for the university’s high-quality development. In 2023, the university was recognized as a “Model Workers’ Home” within China’s national education, science, culture, health, and sports system.

—Implementing the Health Initiative: Creating a “Home of Comfort” for Faculty and Staff. First, regular fitness and exercise activities have been institutionalized.The university organizestraining sessions through 12 faculty sports and cultural clubs and has set up designated fitness spots for Baduanjin and aerobic workouts during work breaks. Weekly power walking activitiesareheld to help exercise enthusiasts across campus strengthen their bodies. Through the “Be a Workplace Health Champion” campaign, the university has launched a weight management initiative, conducted fitness assessments for staff, and promoted healthy habits through routine weight monitoring.Second, health education has been institutionalized for long-term impact.The university has established individual health records for faculty and staff and arranges annual health checkups. Regular initiatives such as free medical consultations, health lectures, and traditional Chinese medicine therapy volunteer services are organized. Health information is carefully selected and shared regularly through on-campus bulletin boards and official WeChat platforms to help staff master emergency response and first-aid skills.Third, fitness services have been refined and optimized.Leveraging the resources of its provincial-level, three-star “Mental Wellness Station Demonstration Site,” the university has developed a “Wellness Station+” staff service hub. It has built and improved the “12345” rational suggestion online service platform, launched a mental health hotline, and created an integrated psychological health service system encompassing health education, psychological assessment, counseling, and crisis intervention—ensuring the physical and mental well-being of faculty and staff. In 2023, Professor Xu Guofu was recognized by the National Health Commission as one of the first exemplary “Workplace Health Champions” in China.

—Implementing the Security Initiative: Creating a “Home of Reassurance” for Faculty and Staff. First,the university adheres to theSix Must-Visit, Must-Helppolicy.The union is committed to visiting and assisting in the following situations: during holidays, all retired, resigned, ill, or financially struggling faculty and staff must be visited and supported; frontline faculty during traditional festivals must be visited and supported; those hospitalized or with seriously ill family members must be visited and supported; weddings or funerals in a faculty member’s family warrant a visit and support; when a faculty member files a complaint, the union must follow up; and in cases of hardship—especially sudden natural disasters or emergencies—the union must act as the first to know and the first to care. Through this system, the university ensures that faculty and staff feel the warmth and support of a caring home.Second,efforts have been made to advance democratic governance within the university.Focusing on the university’s core priorities and major tasks, the university selects annual working themes for the Faculty and Staff Representative Conference (FSRC), solicits proposals, conducts surveys, and holds discussions to ensure the conference is productive and protects faculty members’rights to information, participation, expression, and oversight. Follow-up meetings are held to track the implementation of each proposal, enabling faculty to exercise their democratic rights and fostering unity in thought, direction, and action.Third,faculty needs are identified with precision.Through a model combining “dedicated personnel + professional services” and a “one-stop acceptance, bundled resolution, full-chain response” approach, the university integrates quality resources and innovates its service model. It has developed a comprehensive, one-stop service system that includes legal consultation, litigation support, legal assistance for family matters, and hardship relief—all aligned with relevant policies to ensure proper implementation.Fourth,mechanisms and systems have been established and improved.A Faculty Appeals Committee has been formed, and the “Xi’an Peihua University Faculty Appeals System” has been formulated to provide institutional safeguards for protecting the legitimate rights and interests of faculty and staff.

—Implementing the Empowerment Initiative: Creating a “Home of Warmth” for Faculty and Staff. First, platforms for exchange and learninghave beenactively built.The university established a “Women’s Research Support Group” and regularly holds “Women’s Academic Salons”. Renowned experts from various industries are invited to give lectures on topics such as women’s rights protection and personal image and etiquette, fully showcasing the vital role of female faculty and staff as “half the sky” in the workplace.Second, distinctive and personalized activitieshave beenlaunched.Monthly staff birthday parties, annual Double Ninth Festival reunions, the “Four Seasons Gifts” series, and faculty children’s summer camps have become signature trade union programs at Peihua. On International Women’s Day, university leaders personally present thoughtfully prepared gifts to each female faculty member, conveying holiday blessings and respect. Events like the “Goddess Day Celebration” and “Moments of Joy Fair” are designed especially for women, creating a festive atmosphere just for them. Each semester, honored female faculty are gifted free group yoga classes, and are invited to participate in aesthetic experiences such as beauty workshops and professional portrait photography, allowing them to shine even more brightly through these meaningful activities.Third, humanistic care has beenenhanced.Regular family reading sessions are organized, along with outdoor parent-child study trips during Children’s Day, winter, and summer breaks—fostering stronger family bonds through rich, engaging activities.Fourth, heartfelt public service initiativeshave beenlaunched.Female faculty volunteers participate in activities such as tree planting, educational outreach, charitable donations, and support for left-behind or disadvantaged children—spreading warmth and hope through their actions. In 2024, Xi’an Peihua University’s Women’s Volunteer Service Team was recognized as one of the “Most Beautiful Women’s Volunteer Organizations in Shaanxi,” and three female faculty members were named “Most Beautiful Women’s Volunteers in Shaanxi”.

—Implementing the Quality Enhancement Initiative: Creating a “Home of Peace of Mind” for Faculty and Staff. First, facilities and activity spaceshave been improved.The university has made significant investments to build a well-equipped and fully functional “Women’s Activity Center” and four provincial-level Mother and Baby Care Rooms. It also completed a comprehensive upgrade of the 600-square-meter Faculty Center. The center is fully outfitted, featuring six activity rooms and two shower rooms, providing a comfortable and versatile space for faculty to relax and exercise.Second, the work environmenthas beenoptimized.Ergonomic lumbar-support chairs have been provided to all faculty members to promote physical well-being. Three new apartment buildings for faculty talent have been constructed and put into use, with each unit fully furnished and equipped with appliances—allowing staff to move in with just their bags.Third,spiritual and cultural lifehas beenenriched. The university regularly hosts fun sports games, red classics singing concerts, and Spring Festival gala performances. These community activities not only offer faculty a platform to showcase their talents, but also strengthen team spirit and a sense of collective pride. In a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, staff can relieve work pressure and experience greater happiness, belonging, and security.
