The 11th Paralympic Games of the people's Republic of China and the 8th Special Olympic Games opened up grandly at the Xi'an Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium at 20:00 on the evening of October 22. Games adheres to the concept of "Equality, Participation, Sharing, and Integration" in a modern civilized society for the physical challenged, promotes the sports spirit of striving for the first place, demonstrates the spirit of self-reliance and optimism for the physical challenged, and demonstrates the new development of sports for the physical challenged in China and the new achievements of people's livelihood.

In April 2021, Xi'an Peihua University was invited to participate in the performance of the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics and Paralympics. More than 1200 teachers and students of the school actively signed up to participate. After rounds of selection, the university finally had 6 ceremony guides, 280 volunteers, 286 student actors and 18 management teachers receptively undertake the task of guiding each representative team, organizing volunteer service for the audience, and performing tasks in the third chapter of "hand dance matrix" and the epilogue.

From the scorching summer to the temperature-sudden-drop autumn, from the sunny day to the lonely late night, the Peihua university’s 286-student actors gave up the summer vacation and every weekend since the very beginning selection in June this year. During the rehearsal for more than three months, they moved from uneven to uniform, and finally showed the most vigorous spirit and enthusiasm.

During the Paralympic Games, 6 students in the school were responsible for guiding work. They stood out after multiple rounds of interviews and selections. They are Liu Zirui, from School of Architecture and Art Design, Liu Xinxin, from School of Accounting and Finance, Pang Yuqing, from School of Medicine, Zhao Ying, Liu Zhiqi, and hu Xin from School of Media and communication. 

Through a month’s hard training, they have mastered the guide's movement skills and physical manners. They are responsible for guiding the path and showing the boards for the referee delegation, Hubei Province, Anhui Province, Jiangsu Province, Guangdong Province, and the Shandong Provincial Athletes’ Team. The tasks were completed brilliantly.

   Volunteers

After the opening ceremony, 94 volunteers from Peihua will continue to serve in the Medical and Health Department of the Paralympic Games Organizing Committee. At the same time, the Paralympic Games Organizing Committee will assign 162 volunteers to serve in the marathon on the 26th.

With a serious attitude and full enthusiasm, Peihua volunteers overcame difficulties, and carry forward the school motto, "university reputation first, quality first, self-improvement, forge ahead. They light up dreams and escort love.

   Roller Skating Actors

In addition, Zhang Sihao, from the School of Intelligent Science and Information Engineering, performed as a member of the 1766 Roller Skating Association. Since July this year, more than 200 roller skaters, including professional roller skaters, coaches and enthusiasts participated in the selection of cast members for the opening ceremony, 30 of whom were selected by the director group and performed in the end.

Sweat carves life and struggling writes life achievements. The superb professional skills, the tacit cooperation of the team, the familiarity with the stage, roller skaters’ hundreds of repeated exercises contributed to an over-one-minute but excellent performance.

Hip-hop Actors

Li Yihao, a student from the School of Humanities and International Education, danced in the performance of "Soaking the Sunshine", incarnated into black and white keys, and played heart rhythms and love movements, and also demonstrated the great achievements in the progress of the physical challenged people in our country.

Rounds of elections and rehearsals showed a wonderful dance to the world and conveyed Peihua's spirit of striving for the first and being courageous.

Media Reporters

The School of Media and communication’s students, Wang Kunzheng, Su Junying, Xu Shaowei and Zhang Yaorong, four students from the school’s media reporter team, worked hard in the front line of media work from the National Games to the Paralympic Special Olympics. They wrote youth with sweat, achieved themselves with efforts.

They performed outstandingly during the National Games and the Paralympic Special Olympics, and were strongly praised by “Quan yun rong” media (formerly Shaanxi Broadcasting Cooperation Sports and Leisure) channel. The efforts eventually paid off, and they gained satisfactory answers in their hard work.

Teachers

We must mention 18 team teachers who participated in the Special Olympics Paralympic Games. Since the event was officially prepared, they have started to work from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., accompanied with students and had no break all those months. Eating and living with students, doing all kinds of security work, they are indispensable and played significant roles in this event.

Participating in the performance of the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games not only demonstrated the responsibility of the times and the youth of Peihua students, also provided an important carrier for the campus culture construction and patriotism education of Xi’an Peihua University. Meanwhile, this event offered a new going-out platform to show the enterprising spirit of the university’s teachers and students. 

    Return with honor

The event is surrounded with youthful spirit and he smile blossomed in the golden autumn. Student actors and volunteers who participated in the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics returned to school today. President Jiang Bo said that hand dance performed by Peihua students has won unanimous praise. Peihua students are aggressive and enterprising, pursuing excellence, and full of enthusiasm. Their performance brought excellent visual enjoyment to the audience all over the world. At the same time, he expressed his heartfelt thanks to the volunteers present, appreciated their achievements and mission because they’ve won glory for the university. He also encouraged Peihua students to continue to work hard and make new achievements.
