On the morning of August 1st, on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, an academic seminar jointly organized by Shaanxi Red Culture Research Institute and Xi'an Peihua University was held in Peihua to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Fifth Division of the New Fourth Army and the 80th anniversary of its direct command by the Central Military Commission. Many participants, including representatives of veteran soldiers and relatives of veteran comrades of the 5th Division of the New Fourth Army, relevant leaders of the Chinese New Fourth Army Research Association, invited party history experts, and experts and professors from institutions of higher learning attended the meeting through online and offline forms.

At the opening ceremony and commemorative meeting, Dr. Jiang Bo, member of the Standing Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Chairman of the Shaanxi Red Culture Research Institute, and Chairman of Xi'an Peihua University, delivered a welcome speech. He pointed out that the holding of the "Academic Seminar to Commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Founding of the 5th Division of the New Fourth Army and the 80th Anniversary of the Direct Command of the Central Military Commission" is to further study and implement the important guiding spirit of the study and education of the history of the Central Party and General Secretary Xi Jinping on strengthening the historical research of the New Fourth Army, to carry forward the spirit of the Iron Army, to inherit the red gene, and to carry out the fundamental task of establishing morality and cultivating people. We should give full play to the important role of the Iron Army Spirit in inspiring patriotic enthusiasm, gathering people's strength and cultivating national spirit, never forget our original intention, remember our mission and firm belief, and make unremitting efforts to build a socialist modern country in an all-round way.

Representatives of veteran soldiers and relatives of veteran comrades of the 5th Division of the New Fourth Army made speeches, reviewing and introducing the touching stories of the 5th Division of the New Fourth Army.

In his speech, Professor Zheng Zhibiao, Executive Vice President of Yan'an Spirit Research Association of Shaanxi Province and former Vice President of the Party School of Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee, reviewed the history of the activities of the 5th Division of the New Fourth Army in Shaanxi, and summarized the spirit of the 5th Division as "firmness, loyalty and sacrifice". He pointed out that the spirit of the 5th Division of the New Fourth Army had many similarities with Yan'an Spirit, both of which were important spiritual contents in the Communist Party of China.

A veteran soldier of the 5th Division of the New Fourth Army and a former officer of the Shaanxi Military Region presented the book "Yan'an Never Forgets Premier Zhou's Entrustment" written by Xu Xiaomin, to Xi'an Peihua University and Chairman Jiang Bo issued a donation certificate on behalf of the university.

Professor Luo Xinyuan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Xi'an Peihua University and Vice President of the Shaanxi Provincial "Das Kapital" Research Association, pointed out in the summary meeting: The "New Fourth Army" is a strong force of the people's army, a heroic force, and even a mighty force shouldering the great responsibility of national rejuvenation, and has made great contributions to the Chinese revolution and the victory of Anti-Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation behind enemy lines led by the Communist Party of China. We should thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on strengthening the study of the history of the New Fourth Army, give full play to the spirit of the Iron Army, and make unremitting efforts to build a socialist modern country in an all-round way.

During the seminar, Ren Zhenjie, a professor and doctoral supervisor of the Chinese Academy of Military Sciences, shared The valuable historical experience of the 5th Division of the New Fourth Army in establishing the anti-Japanese base in Hubei and Henan province. Li Xiannian's leadership art in breaking through the Central Plains was shared by Dr. Ma Shengli from Tsinghua University. Wei Deping, an associate professor at the Marxist College of Shaanxi Normal University, shared The main contributions of the CPC Shaanxi Party organizations in the follow-up work of "breaking through the Central Plains". Zhao Qinsheng, the grandson of the former governor of Shaanxi Province---Zhao Boping, shared "Zhao Boping and escorting Li Xiannian back to Yan'an". Li Wei, a lecturer at the Marxist College of Xijing University, shared The Contemporary Value and University Inheritance of the Iron Army Spirit of the New Fourth Army. Yu Jianqun, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Revolutionary Research Association, shared Li Xiannian's Theoretical Contribution to Mao Zedong Thought. Zhang Yajun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Jihua 3513 Industrial Co., Ltd. (Formerly Xinghua Tannery in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Region), shared "Telling Red Stories Well, Creating a Hundred Years Company". Gao Hongbo, from Northwest Polytechnic University, shared "Psychoanalysis of the Fifth Division of the New Fourth Army". Wang Tiandan, Doctor of Yan'an Spirit (Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Revolutionary History) Research Institute of Shaanxi Academy of Social Sciences and Vice President of Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Revolutionary History Research Association, shared "On the Historical Status of Henan-Hubei-Shaanxi Revolutionary Base Area".

Hu Yong, an associate professor at the School of History of Northwest University, pointed out in his comments that the seminar fully reflected the achievements of the study of red culture in Shaanxi Province and accumulated rich resources for the study of Party history in our province.

Li Zhongquan, a researcher at the Shaanxi Academy of Social Sciences and an expert enjoying subsidies from the State Council, concluded that the seminar has achieved fruitful results. That the experts and scholars attending the seminar conducted extensive exchanges online and offline, deeply studied the historical achievements of the 5th Division of the New Fourth Army, enriched the contents of the history of the Party and the army, and praised the great revolutionary spirit, has great significance for future academic research.
