The Sixth General Assembly of the Shaanxi News Photography Association was held at the Weizhi Library of Xi'an Peihua University on May 13th. The event saw the participation of over 100 representatives, including Deng Li, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Tenth People's Congress of Shaanxi; Liang Ping, former Chairman and Party Secretary of Shaanxi Energy Group Co., Ltd., as well as Honorary President of the Fifth Session of the Shaanxi News Photography Association; Zhang Jingao, Minister of the Department of Social Organization Management of the Shaanxi Federation of Social Sciences; Tong Jia, Deputy Minister of the Department of Social Organization Management of the Shaanxi Federation of Social Sciences; Jiang Bo, Chairman of Xi’an Peihua University; Du Yaofeng, Vice President of the Local History Research Association of the China Society for the Study of Journalism History, State Council Expert, National Second-Level Professor, Senior Journalist, President of the Fifth Session of the Shaanxi News Photography Association, and Dean of the School of Media at Xi’an Peihua University. The assembly, which was guided by the Department of Civil Affairs of Shaanxi and the Shaanxi Federation of Social Sciences, was organized by the Shaanxi News Photography Association and hosted by Xi’an Peihua University.

Minister Zhang Jingao of the Department of Social Organization Management of the Shaanxi Federation of Social Sciences gave full recognition to the work and achievements of the previous council and put forward four work requirements for the new council. Firstly, he emphasized the importance of adhering to the correct political orientation. Secondly, he stressed the need for a strong sense of cultural confidence. Thirdly, he highlighted the importance of strengthening organizational functions. Finally, he emphasized the importance of enhancing talent recommendation. Minister Zhang expressed his hope that the Shaanxi News Photography Association would unite experts, scholars, and photography enthusiasts in the news photography field of Shaanxi. He encouraged the association to carry out diverse and enriching activities and fulfill its role effectively.
Chairman Jiang Bo of Xi’an Peihua University Delivered a Speech
Jiang Bo, the Chairman of Xi’an Peihua University, expressed full recognition for the role and contributions made by the Shaanxi News Photography Association in promoting the development of news photography in Shaanxi. He pointed out that Xi’an Peihua University has a long history, deep cultural heritage, and a profound revolutionary tradition. Numerous news photographers have used their lenses and words to document and disseminate the changes and achievements of the university's development. Chairman Jiang expressed sincere gratitude for their efforts. He emphasized that Xi’an Peihua University will further leverage the professional strengths of its School of Media and provide full support to the work of the Shaanxi News Photography Association. The university is committed to contributing its efforts to the development of news photography in Shaanxi.

Du Yaofeng, the President of the Fifth Session of the Shaanxi News Photography Association, delivered a report to the assembly, providing an overview of the achievements made under the leadership of the fifth council and the collective efforts of all members. President Du highlighted that the association was initially founded by Mr. Zhang Guang, a distinguished revolutionary journalist during the Yan'an period and former chief editor and senior journalist of Shaanxi Daily. Since its inception, the Shaanxi News Photography Association has adhered to the principles of "passion, voluntary participation, collaboration, and service." It has united photography enthusiasts and news photography departments from various cities and regions in Shaanxi to disseminate the development of Shaanxi through vivid visuals and descriptive narratives. By focusing their lenses on grassroots communities and directing their attention towards the people, the association has discovered exemplary individuals and events that have broken old mindsets, changed habits, pioneered new approaches, and emerged with fresh perspectives in various social undertakings. These exemplary cases have been skillfully captured and widely disseminated through news photography. While the association has faced challenges throughout its development, in 2021, with the support of Chairman Jiang Bo of Xi’an Peihua University, the association successfully relocated to Xi’an Peihua University. It has since organized a series of events, including the "Three Qin Chasing Excellence - Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Party's Founding Image Exhibition and Broadcast" and the "Beautiful Countryside International Image Festival." These activities have generated significant social impact within the news photography community in Shaanxi.

The conference deliberated, voted, and conducted anonymous voting on documents including the "Work Report of the Fifth Council of the Shaanxi News Photographers Association," "Election Procedures for the Sixth Session of the Membership Representative Conference of the Shaanxi News Photographers Association," "Financial Audit Report," "Constitution of the Shaanxi News Photographers Association," and "Membership Fee Standards and Management Measures of the Shaanxi News Photographers Association."
The First Council Meeting of the Sixth Session of the Association Concluded
The conference conducted elections to form the leadership team for the sixth session, including the President, Executive Vice President, Vice Presidents, Secretary-General, and Directors. Professor Yang Lichuan, former Dean and doctoral supervisor of the School of Journalism and Communication at Northwest University, was elected as the President of the Shaanxi News Photographers Association for the sixth session.

President Yang Lichuan expressed his gratitude to the past leaders and members for their support to the Shaanxi News Photographers Association. He stated that the association will continue to be guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, carry forward valuable experiences, and improve the level of its work. President Yang emphasized three key points. Firstly, the association will integrate the correct orientation with specific tasks, adhering to the Marxist view of journalism and upholding the principles of news work with party consciousness. Secondly, theory research and practical service will be combined, with a focus on theoretical research that serves the party and the people. Lastly, traditional inheritance and innovative development will be integrated, cherishing the fine traditions while adapting to the changes of the new media era.

After the meeting, Jiang Bo, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Xi'an Peihua University, led the attending guests and some officials of the association to visit the "Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China Tiananmen Square Celebration Flag" erected at the east gate of the school.
