On May 27th, four students of Data Science and Big Data Technologymajorfrom School of Intelligent Science and Information Engineering of Xi’an PeihuaUniversityparticipated in the National Finals of“Digital Craftsman”National Big Data Analysis and Application Innovation Competition. Among them, the “Gray Fly” team composed of Zhao Zefei, Guo Hui and Chen Qunxin won the first prize in the BI track, and Zheng Le’s “Data” team wontheGreat Prize inthe AI track.
The competition, guided by the Institute of Mechanical Industry Economics and Management, hosted byIntelligent Chinaand GuoSheng Think Tank, and co-hosted by Xi’an University of Technology and Merrill Lynch Data Technology Co. Ltd, is aimed at promoting digital transformation and intelligent development, fostering the cultivation of digital talents, creatingthespirit of digital craftsmanship, and constructing astrongdigital nation. The competition was divided into three stages: preliminary, semi-final and final, and more than 1,200 people from universities across China participated in the competition. After fierce competition, 40 outstanding teams participated in the national finals, and“GrayFly”team and“Data”teamfrom School ofIntelligent Science and Information Engineeringwere among them.
The competition is mainly centered on examining students’mastery of basic big data knowledge and skills, applied big data knowledge and skills, AI algorithmic ability and the ability to solve practical problems. The competition is divided into two parts: skill assessment and innovative application. In terms of basic skills, relying on the nationalBig Data Engineers and Technicians Occupational Standards,Big Data Practitioners Competency Requirementsand other industry standards, the focus is on assessing students’mastery of the basic knowledge of big data; in terms of innovative applications, combined with the actual industry application scenarios, thefocus is onassessingthe students’ abilityof how to carry out data cleaningand processingin the real project problem,machine learning, algorithmic tuning parameterization and data visualizationand othercomprehensive application ability.
Members of “Grey Fly” and “Data” showedextraordinary abilityand innovative spirit in the competition, with outstanding performance in data analysis, data modeling, algorithm comparison, page design, results reporting and other aspects.
