On September 22nd, when Xi’an Peihua University was about to celebrate its 95th anniversary, the trials of the 2023 “Chang’an Cup” National Bodybuilding Championships and World Bodybuilding Championships had its grand opening in the gymnasium of Xi’an Peihua University, and nearly 400 excellent bodybuilders from all over the country signed up for this competition.
Liu Kuanren, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee for the Democracy, chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee for the Democracy, vice chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Zhang Haifeng, chairman of the China Bodybuilding Association, Gu Qiao, executive vice chairman and secretary-general of the China Bodybuilding Association, Qu Sancheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and deputy director of the Proposal Committee, Feng Rong, deputy director of the Education, Science, Culture and Health Working Committee of the Standing Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial People’s Congress, Lv Qiang, secretary of Xi’an Chang’an District Committee of the Communist Party of China, Zhang Jun, deputy secretary of Xi’an Chang’an District Committee of the Communist Party of China and district governor, Zhang Jun, chairman of the Xi’an Chang’an District Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, etc. together with Jiang Bo, board chairman of Xi’an Peihua University, Zhang Penggang, executive director of Cultural Development and Exchange Center of IFBB-CBBA, and general manager of Shaanxi Guangfu Sports Culture Co., Ltd., as well as some former provincial and municipal leaders, and representatives from all walks of life, all attended the opening ceremony.
On behalf of Chang’an District Committee of CPC and District Government, Zhang Jun, deputy secretary of Xi’an Chang’an District Committee of the CPC and district governor, delivered a welcome speech to all the guests and expressed his heartfelt thanks to Xi’an Peihua University and the staff of this event, who had provided a first-class environment and services. He praised Chang’an for its rich history, humanities, landscape, science and education. Into the new era, Chang’an has accelerated the construction of a strong sports district. National fitness is booming, the sports atmosphere is unprecedentedly strong, and good news has repeatedly spread in the competitive arena. Therefore, it has won many awards, such as National Fitness Demonstration County and National Fitness Vitality County in Shaanxi Province. Today, Chang’an will be a good host in providing services and guarantees with heart and soul, and giving its full play to the “sports plus” effect, so as to make itself known as “Vibrant Chang’an, Healthy Chang’an”.
At the opening ceremony, students of Xi’an Peihua University performed wonderful cheer-leading dance, style rope skipping and street dance. The energetic bodies showed strength and beauty, and the cool and dynamic dancing was exciting and unrestrained.

The championships were co-sponsored by the China Bodybuilding Association, Xi’an Chang’an District Committee of the CPC, and Xi’an Chang’an District People’s Government, and were hosted by Culture, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Xi’an Chang’an District, Development and Construction Management Committee of Xi’an Changning New District, and Xi’an Peihua University. There were all together 9 events in this trial, including classical bodybuilding, traditional bodybuilding, bodybuilding, fitness bikini, men’s fitness modeling, women’s fitness modeling, physique, bodybuilding seniors, and bodybuilding mixed doubles, which covered many directions and subdivisions in the field of bodybuilding and provided various choices for the contestants.
The Trials of the 2023 “Chang’an Cup” National Bodybuilding Championships and World Bodybuilding Championships are the national Class-A events and one of the highest-level annual events of the China Bodybuilding Association. The trials were supposed to last for two days. In the following competitions, tens of bodybuilders, including world champions, Asian champions and national champions, will be present. The winners will be qualified to participate in 2023 World Bodybuilding Championships and go to the world stage for a more glorious future.
