To deepen the study and implementation of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important discourse on scientific and technological innovation, promote the improvement of scientific literacy among the public, and uphold the spirit of scientists, the 2024 Xi’an Science and Technology Week Opening Ceremony, jointly organized by the Xi’an Science and Technology Bureau, the Xi’an Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department, and the Xi’an Association for Science and Technology, was held at the Daming Palace National Heritage Park on May 25thto 26th. Attendees included Liu Kai, Deputy Secretary-General of the Xi’an Municipal Government;Li Zhijun, Director of the Xi’an Science and Technology Bureau;Yang Liping, Deputy Minister of the Xi’an Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department, and Zhang Chuanshi, Vice Chairman of the Xi’an Association for Science and Technology. Xi’an Peihua University’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center was invited to participate in the event.
The theme of this event was“Promoting the Spirit of Scientists to Stimulate Innovation Across Society”. Through organizing mass science popularization activities and concentrated science communication, the event aimed to disseminate scientific knowledge, advocate scientific methods, promote the spirit of science, and foster a societal trend of loving and respecting science throughout the city. At the exhibition, Xi’an Peihua University showcased projects such as“Handcrafted Architectural Model Design and Production”,“Modular Task Mounting Platform for Drones”,“Laser Engraving and 3D Printing”, and“Touch-sensitive Interactive River Table”. These exhibits garnered extensive attention from the audience present. Students from disciplines including architecture, electronics, and computer science explained the distinctive features and scientific principles of their works, showcasing the practical skills and professional expertise of Peihua’s faculty and students.
It is reported that the opening ceremony of the Xi’an Science and Technology Week featured participation from over 60 science popularization demonstration bases, universities, research institutes, technology enterprises, healthcare institutions, and publishing houses across the city. They presented science experiments, science dramas, science lectures, and other activities. The online exhibition’s videos and live-streamed images were viewed by more than 20,000 people.
