On July 4th, Xi’an Peihua University held its second annual“Aesthetic Education Guidance Committee”. This conference specially invitednearly 20 on-campus and off-campusexperts and leaders, including Professor Shicun, doctoral supervisor of Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts;Professor He Xing,vicedean of the School of Music of Xi’an University of Arts and Sciences, and professor Zhang Jinbo, former minister of Student Affairs of Xi’an Conservatory of Music, to provide suggestions and ideas on theuniversity’s aesthetic education, and to gather ideas and benefits.
At the meeting,Professor Liu Rongdi,director of the Art Education Center, reviewed the aesthetic education work of the university in the past two years. He reported on the work measures, aesthetic education achievements, exchanges between universities, work prospects, development plans and other aspects.
Vice President Yao Wenjing read out the document“Notice on Adjusting the Guidance Committee for Aesthetic Education”; Chairman Jiang Bo presented the appointment letter to the off-campusexperts, and discussed the university’s aesthetic education work with the attending committeemembers.
The committee members actively provided suggestions and valuable suggestions for the aesthetic education work in our university, and believed that public art education should be an important carrier for aesthetic education teaching in universities. Efforts should be made to increase the construction of aesthetic education work, and support should be provided in terms of policies, financial resources, and manpower.
Thecommittee members discussed theuniversity’s aesthetic education work
President Li Yingfang fully affirmed the achievements of our university’s aesthetic education work in his speech. He requested that all levels of departments in the university conscientiously implement the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council on aesthetic education work in university, implement the fundamental task of cultivating morality and talents, and incorporate aesthetic education into the entire process of talent cultivation in the university.The university has to persist in educating, beautifying, and nurturing students with beauty, improve students’aesthetic literacy, cultivate noble sentiments, shape beautiful minds, and stimulate innovation and creativity.
Chairman Jiang Bo summarized that in the face of the challenges of the new era,the university’saesthetic education work should break away from traditional educational thinking,developdistinguishing features, create brands, and promote traditional culture and the“Red Spirit”. On the basis of the existing disciplines in theuniversity,we have tointegrate external resources, excavate the“Peihua Spirit”in the history of Peihua’s education, adhere to the principle of applying what is learned, and create“one school, one product”aesthetic education achievements with Peihua characteristics. He requested that theaestheticeducation guidance committee fully utilize the roles ofideatanks, advisory groups, and guidance groups, fully mobilize the enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity of all committee members, focus on theoretical research and investigation, learn from the experience and practices of aestheticeducation inotheruniversities, and promote the healthy development ofthe university’s aesthetic education.
In recent years, the university has always adhered to the educational philosophy of“people-oriented, morality first”. The aestheticeducation work has been taking“cultivating virtue and nurturing talents”as the fundamental starting point, and uses aesthetic education and teaching as the carrier, striving to create a“trinity”of basic art education, preciseart education, and characteristic art education for the cultivation of aesthetic education talents.
Next, guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the university will thoroughly implementgeneralsecretary Xi Jinping’s important discourse on aesthetic education work, the opinions of the two offices on“Comprehensively Strengthening and Improving Aesthetic Education Work in Schools in the NewEra”and the aesthetic education infiltration action, fully mobilize the enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity of all faculty and staff, and carry out curriculum construction, scientific research, teaching reform and other work. The university will follow the task of aesthetic education in theuniversity, promote the construction and development of aesthetic education in university, focus on guiding college students to establish a correct outlook on life and values, implement the spirit of Peihua’s“great art”aesthetic education, and cultivate Chinese socialist builders and successors with“internal and external cultivation”and“international vision”.
