On July 5th, Xi’an Peihua University held the 2024 Education and Teaching Conference, which focused on the theme of“deepening the integration of industry and education, and promoting the steady improvement of the quality of applied technology talent training”. 36 industry and enterprise representatives, all school leaders, heads of various functional departments, deans (executive vice deans), party secretaries (deputy secretaries), vice deans, department/teaching and research department directors, leaders of various majors, directors of experimental centers, teaching supervisors at bothuniversityandschoollevels, teacher and student representatives, totaling more than 400 people, attended the meeting. Vice president Hu Junsheng presided over the meeting.

President Li Yingfang delivered a work report on behalf of the university titled“Accelerating the Construction of High-level Applied Undergraduate Universities and Comprehensively Improving the Quality of Applied Technology Talent Training”. The report comprehensively summarizedthe achievements of education and teaching work in the past three years from the aspects of talent cultivation quality, constructionof majors, curriculum system, education and teaching reform, teaching resource construction, and experimentalandpracticalteaching, and deeply analyzedthe new situation, opportunities, and challenges faced by currentcollageeducation and teaching reform and talent cultivation. At the same time, based on the rectification opinions and suggestions put forward by experts in education and teaching review and evaluation, ten key tasks have been identified for the future, including focusing on the needs of regional economic and social development, building a high-quality professional system, deepening comprehensive curriculum reform, and promoting the transformation of teaching modes to application-orientedones. The report also pointed out that the wholeuniversityshould firmly strengthen awarenessand thinking of improving quality, mobilizeall staff toparticipate, actively promote the construction of undergraduate education and teaching quality, and contribute wisdom and strength to the construction of a high-level private university.

In his speech,Chairman Jiang Bo deeply analyzed the current development status of higher education, clarified the development secrets of applied undergraduate universities, and introduced in detail to the attendees the concept of Peihua industrial schools construction. He sincerely invited more enterprises to participate in the construction of the university’s industrial schools, injecting new momentum and inexhaustible vitality into undergraduate education and teaching. He encouraged all Peihua faculty and staff to break away from old thinking, make drastic reforms, and focus on the university development and work with more enterprises to create a community of shared future for talent cultivation and the integration of industry, academia, and research, safeguarding the growth and development of young people.

Speech by Executive Vice President Hu Junsheng

In his concluding speech, Hu Junsheng stated that the conference issued a mobilization order and sounded the call to action. All Peihua people must work closely together, deepen university-enterprise cooperation, jointly explore new models and paths for talent cultivation, and seek high-quality development of the university. He emphasized“the importance of major construction”in the new situation and put forward the development proposition of“strong majorsmakestronguniversities”. He requested that leaders at all levels study and convey the spirit of the meeting,unite and boost the spirit construction forPeihua.
