On the afternoon of 9 July, the University hosted a seminar on Innovation, Sustainability, Global Leadership and Internationalisation. Dr Philip Laird,vicechancellor of Trinity Western University (Global Innovation and Academic Partnerships), Canada;Dr Mokel Jacques Otto,fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and Chief Nutritionist of Qinhuangdao Panacea International Hospital;Professor Guo Junfeng,president of the Translators’Association of Henan Province;Professor Lu Yang, International Academicadvisor of Xi’an Peihua University, and vicepresident of Sias University, were invited to participate in the seminar and give keynote speeches.Chairman Jiang Bo,Vice President Luo Xinyuan, Vice President Liu Yuelian, Professor Li Hua,president of International School;Liu Changlin,vicedean of the School of Humanities and International Education, and Qin Quan’an,executive committee member of the International Committee of the IFT, attended the seminar. Teachers with overseas study background or study and work experience listened to the reports. The meeting was chaired by Prof Li Hua,president of International School of Xi’an Peihua University. Prof Li Hua firstly welcomed the guests from the UK and Canada, as well as the students and teachers from Peihua.Professor Li pointed out that this conference was a good start for Peihua to move towards internationalisation based on its unique schooling and rich cultural history!
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr Jiang Bo,chairman of the Board ofDirectors of Xi’an PeihuaUniversity, and Dr Philip Laird,vicechancellor of Trinity Western University, Canada, signed a cooperation framework agreement.

During the seminar, the university appointed Dr Philippe Laird, Dr Mokel Jacques Otto and President Guo Junfeng as visiting professors of Xi’an PeihuaUniversity. Dr Jiang Bo,chairman of the Board of Directors of Xi’an Peihua University, delivered the opening speech for the conference. The Chairman emphasizedthat as a private university with the longest history in China, Xi’an Peihua University hopes to establish a wide range of cooperation and exchanges with all walks of life and with educational and academic institutions around the world. Taking the opportunity of welcoming theuniversity’s centennial celebration, it inherits Peihua’s red, vocational education and women’s genes, and comprehensively enhances theuniversity’s academic strength, innovation and leadership. It is hoped that through international education and teaching exchanges and co-operation, the openness, practical ability as well asglobal viewof all teachers and students will be further enhanced to strengthen the university’s characteristics, internationalisation and connotation construction, and to improve the comprehensive strength ofPeihua and to deepen the relationship between the university and its international partners, enhance mutual pragmatic cooperation, and achieve win-win development.

Dr Philip Laird,vicechancellor (Global Innovation and Academic Partnerships) of Trinity Western University, Canada, with his rich experience in global higher education innovation and deep academic background, shared practical cases of catechism and AI in higher education and sustainable development under the title of The Future of Learning: The Robotics Revolution, deeply explaining the importance and feasibility of AI in improving the quality of education and teaching and the learning journey of students. Dr Laird further expressed that hewaslooking forward to deep and all-round cooperation withXi’anPeihuaUniversityin the fields of education and teaching and artificial intelligence.

Dr Mokel Jacques Otto, Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and Chief Nutritionist of Qinhuangdao Panaxi International Hospital, presented a series of his unique insights and views on the topic of Global Leadership, Innovation, Sustainable Development and Internationalisationwith his rich experience in medical theories and practices, providing references for the future development of medical nutrition. Dr Otto further expressed his expectation for deep cooperation with Peihua in the fields of medical nutrition in terms of research and innovation, training and development, and integration of industry and education.

Prof Guo Junfeng,president of the Translators Association of Henan Province, gave a keynote speech on the topic of Remaining True to the Original Aspiration, Striving for Life in which he shared his life journey including his determination to excel as a young person, his hard work in studying, his cherishing of time, his rigorous training of skills, and his dedication to serving his country,and stories about how speaking English well brought him joy and made many friends around the world, and profoundly explained the importance of learning English, which touched the teachers and students and benefited them greatly, and furtherinspired them to make progress.
Prof Lu Yang, International Academic Advisor of Xi’an Peihua University, delivered a keynote speech at the seminar
Professor Lu Yang, International Academic Advisor of Xi’an Peihua University and Vice President of Sias University, with herrich experience in global higher education management and governance, gave a keynote speech entitled Reflections and Future Prospects on Women’s Leadership and Talent Development in China, in which she explained the importance of correctly dealing with the relationship between eliminating the gender gap, promoting gender equality, enhancing women’s leadership and attracting excellent talents, and provided herunderstanding and insights on how to provide women with opportunities for skills upgrading and career development. Professor Lu Yang highly praised the female DNA of Peihua and paid tribute to the founder of Peihua,the last President Jiang Weizhi, for creating a distinctive women’s university and a space for development stage for women in China, and even in the world.She will work together with colleagues of the university to design and make the beautiful business card of Peihua women’s education, organize more and better international forums on women’s leadership and innovation, build bridges between Peihua and women leaders in China and even the world, and contribute to the promotion of exchanges and co-operation, mutual visits and development.

In his closing remarks,Professor Li Hua emphasized that innovation and sustainable development, global leadership and internationalisation are very important components of global higher education.Online Courses and artificial intelligence will bring new opportunities and challenges to global higher education. We will take the opportunity of the centennial celebration to expand the way of internationalisation, strengthen the relationship with domestic and international partners, share resources and keep pace with the times to further enhance the internationalisation level of the university and the comprehensive strength of the university.
During the seminar,theteachers and students had enthusiastic, in-depth and positive dialogues, exchanges, speeches and learningfromthe speakers, which demonstrated the internationalizationof our university. A total of more than 250 students and teachers attended the event. This event set up a new platform for deepening academic exchanges and cooperation with educational institutions in the UK and Canada, scientific research and innovation cooperation, the development and application of artificial intelligence in the field of higher education, expanding theglobal viewof teachers and students, and improving the level of international academic exchanges and cooperation, and it also provided a practice andand practical opportunity for the university to promote external cooperation and exchange with a global perspective, to carry out all-around, multi-level and wide-field cooperation, and to promote the overall upward and high-quality development of the university. It also provides practical experience and ideas for theuniversityto continuously promote international cooperation and exchange with a global perspective, carry out comprehensive, multi-level, and wide-ranging in-depth cooperation, and promote the overall high-quality development of theuniversity.
