To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Ling Tung University in Taiwan, the 2024 International Conference on Sustainable Development in Higher Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence was successfully held on October 29 at Ling Tung University, Taiwan. Chairman Jiang Bo of Xi’an Peihua University, Wang Peng from the International Exchange Center, and several faculty members attended the conference online.

The conference focused on discussions about how higher education can achieve sustainable development by adapting to artificial intelligence. Key topics included the latest developments and trends in AI within the fields of learning and education. Ling Tung University President Chen Renlong, Auckland Institute of Studies President Lehan Stemmet, Sapporo International University Dean Hachirou Ueno, President Tamotsuki Yasuyuki, and Sapporo University President Yoshiyuki Omori each delivered speeches.

At the conference, Professor Zhang Ruixiong, former president of Taipei University of Business, delivered a keynote speech titled“Issues Arising from the Use of ChatGPT Tools in Education”.

In the afternoon, a panel discussion was held on the topic“Sustainable Development in Higher Education and AI Application: Experience Sharing”. Participants included Lehan Stemmet,president of Auckland Institute of Studies; Chen Zhiming,dean of the College of Information at Ling Tung University; and Cristinel Constantin,head of the Business Department at Transylvania University of Brașov. The discussion was moderated by Lin Hu Rongda, formerdeputymayor of Taichung.

This conference not only broadened the internationalvisionofPeihuauniversity’s faculty but also deepened their understanding of the current applications of artificial intelligence technology in higher education. It helped them recognize the challenges and opportunities AI technology presents in this field, enhancing their digital literacy.
