In order to enrich the amateur cultural life of the faculty and staff, enhance communication and exchanges between them, and effectively promote the smooth progress of the university’s various tasks, the university’s Labor Union held Xi'an Peihua university’s 2022 “Chess Joy” Faculty and Staff Chess Competition.
At noon on November 9th, the opening ceremony of the competition began with the eager anticipation of the chess players. There were 13 clubs and 76 players gathered on the court. Mr. Ma Dehou, vice chairman of Labor Union of the school and vice president of School of Physical Education, presided over the opening ceremony. Xu Guofu, chairman of the Board of Supervisors and chairman of Labor Union, delivered a speech. The referee representative Guo Pengju read out the rules and precautions of the competition.
At the opening ceremony, Chairman Xu Guofu pointed out that chess and card games have a deep mass base in China, which is a healthy and elegant cultural movement. It is scientific, intellectual, competitive and interesting. This chess competition will enrich the amateur sports life of teachers and staff, cultivate their taste, and enhance the relationship between various departments of the university. Finally, he hoped that the contestants could show their style and ability through the competition.
After the draw was over, the contestants sat down in groups and started the competition. On the arena, everyone held their breath and concentrated on each table and battlefield, with troops lined up in their minds, as if thousands of troops were fighting invisible. When playing chess, some were contemplative, some made decisive moves, and there was a joyful atmosphere of “chess”.

The exciting competitions constantly pushed the atmosphere to a climax, and finally, after fierce competitions, the top three contestants of chess and checkers were decided. They are: Yang Kun, the first in the chess group from School of Architecture and Art Design; Second place, Nan Bing, from School of Humanities and International Education; Third place, Ye Teng, from the third branch of Administration. First place in the checkers group, Chen Ling, from the first branch of Administration; Second place, Zhao Jie, from School of Humanities and International Education; Third place, Du Yutong, from School of Humanities and International Education. The chess competition came to an end in the awarding ceremony, and all the contestants took group photos.
In the spirit of “friendship first, competition second”, the teachers and staff in this competition realized the purpose of communication and friendship enhancement. The activity not only enriched the amateur cultural life of the faculty, created a harmonious and civilized working atmosphere of “healthy life and happy work”, but also improved the sense of belonging and happiness of the faculty. Everyone expressed their expectation that Labor Union would continue to organize more colorful activities to stimulate the staff to work with more enthusiasm and energy.
