Professor Li Mingshun, second-level professor of China Women’s University (ACWF Executive Leadership Academy) and also executive vice president of China Marriage and Family Research Association, was invited by Women School of Xi’an Peihua University to give an academic lecture with the title “Comprehensively Implementing New Era Family Views and Promoting High-Quality New Era Family Construction ”. Liu Yuelian, chairman of the Academic Committee and vice president of Xi’an Peihua University; Yao Wenjing, deputy secretary of the CPC Committee and vice president of Xi’an Peihua University, attended the lecture. About 200 experts, professors, and representatives of teachers and students from Shaanxi Women’s Federation, Office of Working Committee on Children and Women under Shaanxi Provincial Government, Shaanxi Academy of Social Sciences, Shaanxi Normal University, Northwestern University, Shaanxi Xueqian Normal University, Volunteer Service Association for Shaanxi Family Education, Shaanxi Family Education Research Association, Shaanxi Social Work Association, Shaanxi Social Welfare Association, participated in the lecture, which was presided by Ban Li, vice dean of Women’s School of Xi’an Peihua University.
On behalf of Peihua, Liu Yuelian delivered a welcoming speech and welcomed professor Li Mingshun. She said that, General Secretary Xi Jinping has put “valuing family” at the top of “Three Focuses” when talking about family ties, values and traditions. And she emphasized that family education is the primary place for moral education, and it is the fundamental task of Peihua to foster virtues through education. So, she called on that everyone should study and implement the important words on family ties, values and traditions of General Secretary Xi Jinping, research into the latest issues of family education, promote the social practice of ‘new-era’ family education , and strengthen the coordination between family and school, so as to form a joint effort in advancing family ties, values and traditions.
With the theme of “Comprehensively Implementing New Era Family Views and Promoting High-Quality New Era Family Construction”, the lecture of professor Li Mingshun focused on General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important exposition on the construction of family education and family traditions. He explained the core meaning and background of the family views of the new era in terms of the essence, core, role, methods and problems of family education. He pointed out that the concept of family in the new era is a scientific conclusion made by General Secretary Xi Jinping on basic issues such as the function, status, and development trend of the family, as well as the content, approach, and value orientation of family construction using the worldview and methodology of dialectical materialism and historical materialism. The analysis and summary are based on the strategic need to modernize national governance, the practical need to solve outstanding problems in the family field, the urgent need to comprehensively and strictly govern the party, and the international community’s increasing attention to family issues. He emphasized that its core content is patriotism and family love, family virtues, and family pursuit of co-construction and sharing.
Professor Li’s lecture explained the profound concepts in a simple way, with detailed content, profound thoughts, vivid language and cases, which gave much inspiration to the teachers and students at the lecture.
