On October 28th, the Shaanxi Division of the 2023 “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” and “Understanding Contemporary China” National College Students Competition came to an end. Students from Xi’an Peihua University calmly took on the challenge and worked hard, winning 1 provincial gold medal, 5 silver medals and 4 bronze medals in the four competitions of “Speaking”, “Reading”, “Writing” and “Translation” . Among them, Yang Yingying, a 2021 English major, won the “Speaking” gold medal in the Shaanxi competition division and advanced to the national competition. Pang Jiayang, a 2021 student majoring in Marketing won the Silver Award for “Speaking” in the Shaanxi Division. Qi Feiran, Rongrong Shi, and Zhou Yaqin, a 2021 majoring in English, won the Silver Award for “Reading” in the Shaanxi Division. Qi Feiran, a 2021 English major, won the Silver Award for “Writing” in the Shaanxi Division.
It is reported that the 2023 “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” “Understanding Contemporary China” National College Students Foreign Language Proficiency Competition took international talent requirements as the training standard, and integrated key elements such as academics, critical thinking, expansion, and creativity into the competition to improve students’ language skills of thinking, cross-cultural communication and analysis and problem-solving abilities.
Xi’an Peihua University officially launched the selection process for the National College Student Foreign Language Proficiency Competition in September this year. During this period, a team of English teachers from the School of Humanities and International Education organized and held speech skills improvement workshops to enhance the overall competitiveness of the contestants through diversified English training. This competition not only exercised students’ professional skills, but also cultivated their thinking ability, promoting the formation of a good situation of “promoting learning through competition and promoting teaching through competition”.
