On the morning of April 14, the inauguration ceremony of the Counselor Development Academy of Xi’an Peihua University was held in the auditorium of the Weizhi Library.The ceremony was attended by Yu Yadong, former Level-1 Inspector of the Department of Ideological and Political Work of the Ministry of Education, Chairman of the Party Building Committee of the China Association for Non-Government Education, and Chairman of the National Private School Party Building and Ideological and Political Expert Committee; Li Yingfang, President of Xi’an Peihua University; Han Wei, Executive Vice President; Yao Wenjing, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee and Vice President; and President Assistants Jiang Tao and Bao Wei. The meeting was presided over by Party Secretary Liu Feng. Nearly 300 participants attended the event, including administrative staff, heads of functional departments, Party secretaries and deputy secretaries of various secondary colleges, teacher representatives, and the entire counselor faculty.

President Li Yingfang read The Notice on the Establishment of the Counselor Development Academy and The Notice on the Appointment of Personnel for the Counselor Development Academy. These documents outline the academy’s positioning, organizational structure, and primary responsibilities, providing a clear roadmap and specific requirements for strengthening the development of the counselor workforce in the new era and comprehensively improving the quality of student education and management services.

During the inauguration ceremony, five counselor representatives took the stage in succession. They shared moving and authentic stories of their experiences working on the front line and their dedication to accompanying students throughout their growth at Peihua University.

Counselor Qin Jianing, centering on the theme of “Initiating Light”, gave a vivid account of a heartwarming story in which she used sincerity and persistence to accompany a student with a severe weakness in English to regain learning confidence and eventually pass the exam smoothly. She exchanged sincerity with sincerity, lighting up the student’s path of growth with patience and companionship, which resonated strongly with the participants and received unanimous praise. Counselor Hao Tiantian, with the theme of “Carrying Light”, shared the growth journey of preparing for a career planning competition together with a student named Xiao Xu. From breaking through the college-level competition to competing at the provincial level, she guided and protected the student with a teacher’s original aspiration, while the student forged ahead with a youthful spirit; teacher and student moved in the same direction and achieved mutual success. The sincere and full narration moved the entire audience and won bursts of applause. Counselor Kou Fangyi, titled “Transmitting Light”, shared the growth story of a girl who transformed from being stage-frightened and lost to becoming a “shining one”. This story allowed her to deeply understand the sense of social responsibility, honor, and mission of counselors as the “Fourth Team” in higher education conducting ideological and political education for university students. Counselor Fan Jingyi, titled “Guarding Light”, told the touching story of using eight years to protect and help more than 700 students achieve “adulthood, talent, and success”, especially using love and enthusiasm to accompany a student named Wu, who has disabilities and suffers from severe epilepsy, to overcome growth difficulties. Eventually, the student was awarded the “National University Student Star of Self-Improvement” and took root in grassroots work for the Disabled Persons’ Federation. Counselor Wang Di, titled “Gathering Light”, vividly recounted the details of working in the counselor position for eighteen years, accompanying students from being lost to joining the Party and growing into grassroots civil servants. “If given another chance, I would still choose to be the guide holding the torch high”, he said, revealing his original intention of education.

The narrations of the five counselors vividly outlined a collective portrait of a counselor team with faith, responsibility, and warmth. These stories profoundly interpreted Peihua University’s educational philosophy of “People-Oriented, Virtue First”, and demonstrated the professional sense of value in cultivating virtue and nurturing people, as well as the counselors’ excellent spiritual outlook and spirit of selfless dedication through practical actions.

The participating counselors expressed that the establishment of the Counselor Development Academy is both a solemn launch and an ideological baptism. Everyone committed to consistently upholding the student-centered original intention of education, ensuring that educational work is meticulous, practical, and heartfelt. Focusing on the university’s strategic breakthrough of “Strengthening Foundations and Pursuing Master’s Degree Programs”, they will anchor their goals and forge ahead under pressure. With the spirit of bold exploration, the resilience to move forward despite hardships, and the perseverance to see tasks through to the end, they will gather strength and pursue progress with determination. Through high-quality educational results, they aim to contribute wisdom and strength to the university’s “Strengthening Foundations and Pursuing Master’s Degree Programs” project and its 100th anniversary.

The Counselor Development Academy of Xi’an Peihua University is the first specialized institution for the professional training of university counselors to operate as a physical entity among universities in Shaanxi Province. Deeply implementing the spirit of the Action Plan for Comprehensively Strengthening the Construction of University Counselor Teams in the New Era, the Academy represents a landmark practical measure by the university to strengthen the “Fourth Team” of ideological and political work in higher education. Under the Academy, there are the Counselor Development Research Center, the Counselor Training and Cultivation Center, and the Counselor Practice and Innovation Center. It focuses on four core systematic tasks: hierarchical and categorized cultivation (categorized as “New seedling—Growth—Backbone—Expert”), the construction of a modular system of high-quality courses, the incubation of counselor studios and specialized projects, and the integration of scientific research empowerment with practical innovation.
